# Zoom Training Recommendations

It's the nature of world that we're going to be doing a fair amount of remote work. Fortunately, learning about computer activities is one of the topics best suited to training **on** a computer. If you haven't done a lot of this before, here are some recommendations:

- It helps the instructor if the students have web cams. Being able to tell if everyone is following along is important, and the old school "raise a hand/finger if you have a question" still works *very* well. You're not filming a movie, so a budget web cam is fine, we recommend the [Logitech C270](https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Desktop-Widescreen-Calling-Recording/dp/B004FHO5Y6)
- A headset is *highly* recommended. If there are two or more students in the same room for training, then you'll have to have them. The echo from multiple computers will cause audio feedback. For a simple headset, we recommend the [Logitech H340](https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Headset-H340-Stereo-Windows/dp/B008X3JGSI/). We prefer USB headsets over 1/8" plugs because they can't go in the wrong port, and we prefer corded headsets over wireless/Bluetooth because they can't run out of charge in the middle of the session.
- Mute yourself once the session gets started. *Especially* if you don't have a headset. Maybe your kids are in the other room, or there's a barking dog, or it's snack time and you need to dig into that bag of Fritos. All of these are fine, we're adults and we can multi-task. It's just that the rest of us don't need to follow along with "Darn it Spot, that's just the mailman, same as every day, stop barking, I'm in class!" 😉
